Silver Pagoda

Silver Pagoda is a temple located in the Royal Palace Complex. It was built during the 19th century and dedicated to Buddha. The former wooden structure war completely rebuilt in 1962 using concrete and marble. During this reconstruction the floor was paved with more then 5000 silver tiles. Each tile weights about 1 kg (2,2lb).

Inside the main building there are many treasures including unique statues of Buddha. The most famous one is "Emerald Buddha" dating back to the 17th century. This small statue is made of a single baccarat crystal. Another notable exhibit is a life-sized Buddha statue made of gold and encrusted with 9.584 diamonds.

Opening hours and admission

Silver Pagoda is open to visitors every day between 7:30am and 11:00am and between 2:00pm and 5:00pm.

Admission fee is 3 USD per person. 2 USD for camera and 5 USD for video camera.
