Phra Sumeru Fort was the largest fort of 14 forts built by the king Rama I in the second half of the 18th century to protect the city of Bangkok. Nowadays only two of these forts remain and Phra Sumeru Fort is one of them.
The fort with hexagonal shape has two levels that hold the cannons and an observation tower overlooking the surrounding park.
